Great service, but there are better ones out there

What differentiates Hotjar from other similar products?
It offers a lot of the basic insights you'll need when conducting UX Research projects.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I like how easy it is to use the product. There wasn't a steep learning curve.
What do you dislike most about this product?
I wished there were more features from which users could pull more insights.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Great place to start. We started with Hotjar then transitioned to Maze, then UserTesting.

Data collection from surveys, heatmaps, and recordings. Great for optimization of website.

The cost - Microsoft clarity is similar and free (Hotjar is a better product though)

What differentiates Hotjar from other similar products?
It's industry leading reputation means it's a platform that team members often feel familiar with, which speeds onboarding and adoption.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Watching the recordings of users, and being able to tag and categorize. It's great to really see how users are interacting with your products, and test assumptions.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The onboarding for cheaper plans is very self-serve, and this can feel an obstacle for team members who haven't used before.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
The insights are great, but the product is expensive. Make sure there's a clear set of users inhouse who are regularly going to use the tool and pull out insights to act upon.
