Very easy, intuitive survey builder & reporting.

What differentiates Alchemer from other similar products?

Very easy to learn and to use. A reasonably priced annual fee with no restrictions on numbers of surveys or responses.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Great ease of survey building, creating segment analysis, extracting reports. It may meet all your needs, unless you have very sophisticated needs requiring something like SPSS. For me, it does everything.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Lack os weighting capabilities for sample strata.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Try it; you'll love it.

Feature-rich and easy-to-use survey platform

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Alchemer from other similar products?

I can't speak about pricing, but I can say it's just as good (if not better) than any other survey platform (like Qualtrics or Survey Monkey). It's really feature-rich (although the platform itself can be clunky to use... like you have to go through 2-3 screens to anchor certain answers).

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It's easy to get a hang of if you've used other survey platforms. It's also really great for QAing questionnaires and making sure you find problems before you launch. I really appreciate how easy it is to distribute as well... though it took a while to learn, we've gotten a hang of being able to build and launch surveys so our panel partners can distribute them.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Because of how feature-rich it is, a lot of the features are really hard to use/find because they are buried away. Like conditional logic can take forever to set up because you have to go through several pages to make sure it's right. I also really dislike the page structure because if you have a long survey, it can be really hard to jump around and edit the parts that you need. Also the open-end analytic tools are nowhere near competitors (but thankfully you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for what is there).

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

This is better than your typical SurveyMonkey or Google Surveys... but look at Qualtrics too as they have better analytic tools including stat testing and open-end analysis... but it is always very, very expensive so the Qualtrics route might not be worth it. Honestly, Alchemer is a good route if you want a feature-rich survey tool but not the crazy cost of a Qualtrics platform. Just understand that there are some drawbacks to going the cheaper route.

Pros

  • Reliable
  • Enables Productivity
  • Trustworthy
  • Unique Features

Cons

  • Less Efficient Service
  • Vendor's Interest First

Highly capable software that's 60% less expensive

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Alchemer from other similar products?

Alchemer is one of only four web survey platforms that offers all of the following features: Cross-tabs, Image heat maps, Video dial testing, Time limits on questions, and Conjoint exercises. Of those four competitors that offer this array of important features (the others being Decipher, QuestionPro, and Qualtrics), Alchemer has the best pricing available to small/sole proprietor business operators.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I like that I'm able to create fairly complex surveys without worrying at all about the number of respondents impacting my baseline subscription costs. I am entitled to e-mail 10,000 potential respondents per month at no additional cost, and that is plenty for my operations at this stage of growth.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The software platform can be somewhat challenging to learn. The Copy/Paste function for questions is a little clunky. There was also one time when the automated "thank you" e-mail to completed respondents conked out on one of my surveys, and Alchemer tech support was unable to identify the cause of that one-time glitch. Fortunately, that issue has never resurfaced in multiple survey projects since.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Honestly, I have a twinge of worry that if too many other market research practitioners discover Alchemer, my own competitive advantage will be diminished. So, I'm not really here to teach my competitors how to do better surveys more cost-effectively! But, honestly, Alchemer is a darn good product and a well-run operation.
