What differentiates Google Analytics from other similar products?

There is only one Google Analytics, although there are hundreds of apps that do a part of what GA does. Since Google is the search engine of choice for most people, it makes sense to choose GA to analyse data. It's kind of a no-brainer for me.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I've always loved the audience behaviour flow charts. To be able to see where people enter sites, how they then navigate through them, and at what point they leave is probably the quickest way to get an overview of a site's effectiveness. But that's only a tiny fragment of what GA does.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It's complicated. It has to be as there are thousands of data points being tracked, but that's the price I'm happy to pay for excellence.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Take Google's free training. It will get you so much further than trying to wing it. And if you're thinking of hiring someone, make sure they go through the training first too.
