Microsoft Teams: A daily user review

Likeliness to Recommend

What differentiates Microsoft Teams from other similar products?

The biggest differentiator between Teams and other products will definitely be the integration with Microsoft 365 suite which is usually missing in other products. Organizations mainly use Microsoft products for daily work and file sharing using Teams makes it seamless. Comparing it with products like Zoom workplace where there is no SharePoint access gives Teams a huge advantage, as SharePoint helps maintain version control effortlessly.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Microsoft teams gives me access to range of Microsoft products used on daily basis and its integration is quite seamless. As it is integrated with SharePoint, it helps me maintain multiple versions of same file across the project timeline and help with change management. Also, the AI generated notes and transcript generated for meetings help me with assessing key points discussed in meetings reducing manual work.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I would like to mention 2 points, but it is not something that I dislike but Microsoft can work on these things in order to make Teams even better, First, Microsoft Teams consumes a lot of memory to run, which makes often causes lag on moderately powerful system. Second, the messages shared in Teams channel does not show up in Chats section, which leads to some important information being missed by team members.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Overall, Teams is an excellent product from an organization's point of view, helps in daily tasks, maintain versions, and generates notes and transcripts for meetings, all thanks to its integration with Microsoft 365 suite (Check license for features included). For anyone considering this product, I would like to say that Teams comes with a lot of positive features, but it also eats a lot of system memory. So, it is better to have powerful systems until Microsoft release a lite version of Microsoft teams.
