eClinicalWorks and Appriss Health: Improving e-Prescribing Interoperability and Compliance Intelligence

Since rules vary from state to state regarding which drugs are tracked, an inefficient system emerged where physicians were spending time on a process reviewing a patient’s prescription history instead of treating their patients.

eClinicalWorks collaborated with Appriss Health to create an innovative tool, the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), that enables prescribing physicians to easily review patients’ prescription history of highly addictive medications such as narcotics, tranquilizers, and stimulants.

This innovation enhances access of PDMP data in real time and will allow for early identification and intervention to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Our Take

Electronic Health Records (EHRs) must be interoperable to ensure that accurate patient information is shared between systems and providers. The ability to customize an EHR implementation to leverage surveillance, decision-making support, and analytical tools will help practitioners make better prescribing decisions.
