What is Selenium?
Selenium automates browsers. That's it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well.

If you want to automate any web page UI, Selenium is the most effective tool present to automate your tests. It supports variety of languages like Ruby, Java, C#, Python making it easier to adapt.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Cross browser support is still a challenge with Selenium. Hope it will be improved in future. Unfortunately one cannot run Selenium in background. So if you don't have additional monitor you have to keep a dedicated environment for your automation scripts to run
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Selenium is a “Browser Automation” tool, as defined on the website, that is, a tool that allows us to automatically create and operate certain testing steps of websites through our web browser. For example, when we want to test the correct and incorrect operation scenarios of the user registration page of our website, we can automate steps such as opening the user registration page with Selenium, filling in the input fields on the page, clicking on the button... So it makes it easier for us to do functional tests of our practice.

Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Selenium from other similar products?
Selenium is probably the best automation tool in the market which is open source and free to use. Selenium IDE and Web Driver both are very easy to understand and simple to use. Majorly best used to automated web applications and supports almost all browsers, also can be worked on any operating systems. Frameworks are hard to create but can be customized based on our requirement which makes further tasks easy to automate. Any coding language can be used like java, ruby, python etc. which makes it stands apart from other automation tools in the market.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Selenium helps to automate manual test cases which saves lot of time and manual efforts due to which productivity is increased, money is saved as less resources required in comparison to manual work. It can be integrated easily with customer automation frameworks like TestNG which generates test reports very quickly. It helps in automating the web based applications and to prepare and run regression suites whenever required, Lastly, Selenium has changed carriers and given a chance to all manual testers to aspire and learn automation very easily which has helped industry to bring in any project and deliver it in very less time.
What do you dislike most about this product?
User has to know programming basics at least knowledge on core java, else it is very difficult to automate / write code for complex test cases. Lack of support to windows based applications, widely used only for web based applications. Technically speaking it is very difficult to handle dynamic elements and some times very tricky.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you are good in coding and aspire to learn automation, selenium is the best to go with. It is open source, free to use and has very good community support. Manual work should be replaced with automation work and I would recommend to all manual testers to start automation carrier by using selenium.
