What is Ranorex Studio?

Test Automation for All. Everyone from novice to expert can build sophisticated tests for desktop, web, and mobile. Ranorex Studio also integrates with a new product in the suite, Ranorex DesignWise. DesignWise is a test design optimization tool used to ensure tests are created for automation that maximize coverage with as few tests as possible. Users can create Gherkin, BDD-style optimized scripts inside DesignWise that are then executed by Studio.

What differentiates Ranorex Studio from other similar products?

Ranorex provides both recording and coding features. It identifies elements on some of the oldest legacy applications. Its analytics and reports are very intuitive. We were automating a 40 year old health care product which had a very old UI and extremely difficult to identify. Ranorex provided different mechanisms to identify difficult objects. Also, ranorex provided an excellent reporting. It provides the complete Dotnet SDK which we can leverage to build robusts tests.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of Ranorex is its RXpat based object repository and the analytics and reports.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Price is high, I hope they reduce their price to some exten

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you have a techie resource and have an very urgent delivery, go for Ranorex.

Image validation is great, but can be a pain to get right and working perfectly.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Image validation and comparison

What do you dislike most about this product?

Source control! it can be source control hell when multiple users are creating and editing tests/ common repos. Many days wasted with conflicts

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Get the trial, try and use it in anger for your setup and try various monitor resolutions. Check your CI/CD pipelines and ensure it fits into your workflow. Make sure you try and get the basics right at the beginning or you can easily get dragged into many rabbit holes without the ability of easily rectifying issues
