the Rolls-Royce of project software.

What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?

it is unique among its competition in that it provides the most fully featured toolsets for each part of a project's lifecycle. it's great, as it takes everything from the beginning concepts all the way to final close in an one place. compared with getting a casserole of various apps, project keeps all your data in one place, minimizing errors and saving time. it's the best in the business for a reason with unbeatable depth and reliability that others can only envy.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I absolutely love the [‘what-if’] analysis features which enable me to determine how different schedule changes would impact our final delivery date. the custom fields and formulas creation is also a huge plus, as I’ve been able to track specific metrics that are important to our business. the software is very stable an the user community very big, so there is always a tutorial or help online. I must say I'm impressed with how well this works because it feels like a very professional and solid bit of kit.

What do you dislike most about this product?

a little steep in price for small non-profits and single-user situations. It also sports a very classic interface that may seem a little crude by comparison to the newer, more nimble project management tools on trend today. it is certainly a “business-first” solution.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

if you need the most intense feature packed project management software on the planet- here it is. it equips you with everything you need to say goodbye to shitty workflows and hello to doing work that feels satisfying. i would recommend it for any serious project professional or large team.

Pros

  • Client Friendly Policies
  • Reliable
  • Efficient Service
  • Inspires Innovation

Cons

  • Less Fair
  • Less Friendly Negotiation

What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?

what distinguishes this is the richness of its management. it is better because it factors in more than just the name on a task; it considers their availability, their skill set and their cost. vs tools like asana it provides a much clearer insight into if your plan is even viable. it’s a tool for enabling you to handle the realities of out there in order to actually succeed with your projects.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

i really love how professional the gantt charts themselves look and the flexibility to tailor them for different audiences. the built-in templates are quite good as well and provide a excellent starting point for many common types of projects. i love how it works within power bi for even more advanced data visualization and reporting. it's one of the most mature and well thought out systems I've used, that can handle just about anything you want to throw at it. it is very impressive software.

What do you dislike most about this product?

it can be a little bit slow to pick up all of that info on the instructor side. /users may ironically find if they arent using it on a regular basis that they can forget how to do certain things. it’s a medium you definitely need to keep using regularly to stay on top of it and get the most out of.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

this is a book that everyone who is trying to manage with scarce resources needs. it gives you the information necessary to make intelligent decisions and keep things moving forward. i’d recommend it to anyone who wants a powerful, stable system for use in their everyday work.

Pros

  • Continually Improving Product

What differentiates Microsoft Project from other similar products?

it stands apart from other launches by addressing the issue of time and work. it's best because it figures 'work' (related to effort) based on time and resource units, an essential concept that many more elementary tools lack. trello is a little more loosey goosey! ha really helps me stay on budget compared to trello though, for sure. it’s created for folks who are accountable for a project and must have data to prove their progress.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

it is great to be able to control multiple projects in one view. i can see the way our resources are being utilized across the whole company, which helps us prevent burnout. the custom tables and views are also fantastic because i can easily create a workspace that shows me just what i need for my role. the reporting is very professional looking and the charts are easy to relate to our clients. it seems like an extremely well made product.

What do you dislike most about this product?

it’s not very welcoming to people who just want to easily get a few tasks in. the system is a challenge to set up and it cannot be effective without entering a significant amount of data. the mobile app is also very limited, and we can only do a little more than merely check the schedule.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

the best option for any company that requires a formal and well organized approach to managing projects. it offers the depth and precision required to do more complex work.” i recommend it to any project leads who need to know they're being realistic and can produce what's expected.
