What differentiates Jamf Pro from other similar products?
JAMF has been the most well known Apple MDM provider since MDMs became a thing. They have developed many features over the years and the one feature that makes JAMF stand out is the JAMFHelper GUI where you can customize notification prompts for your company
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The ability to quickly manage Macs and iOS devices with configuration profiles that have built in presets to make building them simple.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The cost and the timeliness to resolve known bugs
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I would say shop around and do trials with multiple vendors if you can. Get about 10 Macs and a few iOS devices and use a few MDMs over the course of 2 weeks or so. JAMF is great but its initial set up is a bit daunting still. Other newer MDM solutions such as Kandji have taken the guess work out of how to set things up. JAMF is heavily reliant on its JAMF Nation community blog which I will say is very impressive and I have learned a multitude of information from it and even shared some knowledge myself on there. Now, other companies that include former JAMF employees are emerging and automating more and more things out of the box unlike JAMF
Pros
- Saves Time
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing
Cons
- Less Generous
- Inhibits Innovation
- Commodity Features

What differentiates Jamf Pro from other similar products?
A very easy to user software tool that enables IT administrators like myself to leverage the tools to create complex workflows in an easy manner. 1. Automation / No touch updates which have been implemented by me in our Organization which require very little admin intervention. 2. Deferral of updates and other patches 3. Notification(s) for the end user as well as initial setup and maintenance of the device.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The best feature in my opinion is to use Jamf's script editor combined with policies, smart groups an patch management to create an automated way to update apps without a major overhead.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The cost of Jamf Pro is too high and gets in the way of acquiring additional support. Jamf is a bit slow to adapt new features compared to the MDM competitors which I would like to see change.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Jamf Pro is the best of the best to manage Apple devices and other MDM's do not come even close to this
Pros
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing
- Enables Productivity
- Inspires Innovation
Cons
- Slower Product Innovation
- Less Efficient Service
- Less Effective Service
