The most helpful about AWS system manager is it works with hybrid cloud systems including on-prem systems. Prevent drift by resolving to configure management, OS patches, and inventory. Highly Secure and compliant with industry standards.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The best thing i like about aws systems manager is they provide dashboard category wise such as operations management, application management, node management, shared resources, automation management. It is a centralized access control which also helps us in auditing control.
What do you dislike most about this product?
there are loads of submenus in system manager , so can be a little over whelming when you first go through to this menu, and to start a session it can be annoying with the amount of click you have to do it get on the server you want to remote on.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Access control has gotten completely streamlined to IAM users and roles. I don't need to manage SSH keys for either developers or devops people anymore.

- Efficient Service
- Altruistic
- Acts with Integrity
- Friendly Negotiation
Cons
- Charges for Enhancements

What differentiates AWS Systems Manager from other similar products?
It's cost efficiency as most of System Manager features are available at no additional cost and also it's full native AWS ecosystem integration
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I normally use Ansible to SSH into my instance via port 22. I can't do this on prod that's when i figured out AWS SSM where i do agentless access to my prod instances without requiring SSH and closing port 22 and not needing bastion host
What do you dislike most about this product?
I do face some performance issues when executing commands which sometimes impacts my workflows
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Don't try to implement everything at once. Start with Session Manager for secure instance access and Parameter Store for secrets management because these provide immediate value with minimal difficulties. Once comfortable, gradually add Patch Manager, Automation, and other advanced capabilities
