What differentiates Puppet Enterprise from other similar products?

Its stability. I've been using Puppet for almost 10 years now and every deployment I've done still stable and reliable. Even on companies I don't work anymore, they still using the setups I've configured.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Puppet enterprise has created an approach they call "Roles and Profiles method). It is not mandatory its usage, but by using it, you achieve a level of organized configuration management that makes you abstract a bunch of resources in a smart way.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Actually it is not my complain, but I've been listening that from several people. Puppet is more complicated than other configuration management tools. Probably it is easy for me because when I decided to use it, I attended all official trainings from Puppet Enterprise then I believe I did at the right way, so I didn't suffered that much with some Puppet peculiarities.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Go deep on Puppet documentation (which in my opinion could be a bit better). Puppet is not an easy software at first. So don't hesitate in spending several days studying it before starting to use. But once you are confident enough, your daily basis work will be way simpler and reliable.
