Virtru DLP Ascends the FedRAMP

On March 6, 2019 Virtru, a data loss prevention (DLP) vendor specializing in encryption, was awarded Federal Risk and Authorization Management (FedRAMP) approval – the barrier to entry for use by governmental organizations.

The DLP vendor is excited about this new opportunity to work with the US government as it works toward secure, cloud-based collaboration and data protection. Virtru CEO and co-founder, John Ackerly, also notes that Virtu is committed to providing solutions that enhance security and productivity in both intra- and cross-agency applications, which is certainly a must for government use cases.

Our Take

FedRAMP authorization is a rigorous process, so Virtru’s achievement of this status shows that they take security seriously and are fully invested in providing DLP solutions for clientele who value the same. Regulations like GDPR and CCPA are likely to become the norm over the next few years, meaning that effective DLP and encryption solutions are going to become an essential part of security programs of all shapes and sizes. If you’re an Info-Tech member completing a guided implementation on either GDPR compliance or privacy program development, Virtru might be a welcome addition to your plan.
