The Follett-Fujitsu Partnerships Lands in Ontario

The Ontario Education Collaborative Marketplace (OECM), a sourcing partner dedicated to the Ontario education sector, recently announced Follett Aspen as the preferred Student Information System for the Ontario K-12 sector. At the same time, Fujitsu was selected as the partner to provide consulting services.

Fujitsu will collaborate with Follett to manage the Aspen SIS system and platform as either SaaS or on-premises solutions.

Our Take

Follett Aspen is a mature SIS that has been providing efficiencies to school boards for a number of years. Its presence in Canada had been mainly in the province of British Columbia, but with this endorsement it is expected to make inroads in the Ontario marketplace. However, Follett will have to make sure the system is fully Ontario-compliant to be a viable contender.

This recent announcement highlights the competitiveness of the SIS market in Ontario and it is expected that in the coming months many of the school boards that are using the no-longer available Trillium SIS will face the decision to migration to new platforms. Info-Tech has extensive resources to support your organization through this transition.
