What differentiates Zoom Workplace from other similar products?

Customizable settings that are more in depth than other platforms. There have been many times where our employees are able to go to the audio settings page when their equipment wasn't working, and the testing capabilities have helped them figure out mic issues. Also a moveable messenger box that can be put in different positions on the screen. Something that really differentiates Zoom from the competition is the ability to scroll through all of the participants in meetings. Other meeting platforms usually let you see who is talking and maybe 5 others at random.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My personal favorite is being able to upload different file types for fun background filters that can be seen by the other participants in meetings. The breakout rooms have been a Break-Through feature for me and my team personally!

What do you dislike most about this product?

Sometimes in the past, we have had issues where some of our team members have had to download and log into the app on their computer while others are able to join the meeting from their tabs online. This isn't a big issue, a good chance that is could be user error, but the fact that we have had some meetings start late in the past because it was one or the other depending on the users computer, was inconvenient.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Highly recommend Zoom as a secure meeting platform that offers very user friendly settings and features for meetings and conference calls. For our mid size solar install firm with employees across multiple states, this has been great for our team and has some cool features that are usable for team building/morale exercises.

What differentiates Zoom Workplace from other similar products?

I use it for both lab meetings and video conferencing with remote attendees. Sharing the screen and seeing the participant while instructing them to cover their own camera is a great feature.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

To keep track of my research appointments, I've found an effective online calendaring service. For my purposes of running interactive online meetings, the ability to share and browse my screen while simultaneously monitoring the participant's video is ideal. It's also great for our weekly lab sessions, where we can all get together and examine the same paper figures or data analysis scripts.

What do you dislike most about this product?

When I try to record a video with someone and lock their video, the view in the speaker's window keeps switching between the two views. Having the subject constantly record themselves would require leaving the movies stacked, but showing them to them would be a major distraction that would undermine my research.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Because of its extensive availability and user-friendliness, just basic instructions are required to get someone signed up and using it. Because it works in people's browsers, we don't have to bother them with software downloads before they can take part in our studies.
