It’s cost-effective, SEO-friendly, go for it.

What differentiates WordPress.com from other similar products?

WordPress stands out from other website-building platforms due to its open-source, self-hosted nature, giving users full control and ownership of their sites. Unlike platforms like Wix or Squarespace, it offers virtually unlimited customization through thousands of free and premium themes and plugins. It’s highly SEO-friendly, cost-effective (with no monthly subscription for the core platform), and backed by a massive global community.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of WordPress is its flexibility—it allows you to create and customize any type of website, whether it’s a blog, portfolio, business site, or online store, all without needing to write code. The huge library of plugins and themes means you can tailor everything to fit your exact needs.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The biggest downside is that WordPress can become bloated and slow if not optimized properly, especially with too many plugins. Also, security can be a concern if you don’t keep everything updated. Some premium themes and plugins can be expensive and require technical skill to set up correctly.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I’d highly recommend WordPress to anyone looking for a flexible, powerful, and cost-effective website platform. It’s perfect whether you’re a beginner or a developer—thanks to its easy-to-use interface and massive customization potential. If you want full control over your site’s design, features, and performance, WordPress is a great choice. Just be ready to spend a little time learning the basics, especially if you plan to go beyond simple templates.

Likeliness to Recommend

What differentiates WordPress.com from other similar products?

If there’s one tool that consistently holds up in both client builds and internal content pushes, it’s WordPress.com. I know, I know—some folks still treat it like it’s just for hobby bloggers from 2010. But honestly, that undersells it. For us, it’s been a rock-solid platform that hits that sweet spot between creative flexibility and SEO structure. Especially when you’re trying to wrangle both brand storytelling and technical performance into one site, WordPress.com doesn’t make you choose between one or the other.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One little trick I lean on a lot is the built-in sitemaps and structured data. It saves so much time during technical audits. Also, block-based editing has come a long way—it’s not as rigid as people think, especially if you know how to sneak in your own CSS or work with the Custom HTML blocks. And I love how clean and fast it plays with Core Web Vitals out of the box, especially compared to some of the drag-and-drop builders out there that load like they’re stuck in 2006.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Media management is still kind of a pain. I wouldn’t say it’s broken, but the media library can feel like a digital junk drawer when you’re managing tons of assets.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you’re in SEO and working hand-in-hand with creatives, WordPress.com is more than “just a blogging platform.” It’s reliable, fast, and plays nicely with both people and bots. I’d recommend it to any agency that wants to keep control of performance while giving content and design room to breathe. You just have to know how to push it past its “starter blog” reputation and make it work for your strategy.
