Tableau Effective for Legal Industry, Not Perfect

Likeliness to Recommend

7 /10

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

Tableau has more aesthetically pleasing visuals than MS PowerBI and Amazon's QuickSight. It is also seems easier to feed raw data into the tool.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite feature is the ability to link raw data files on a desktop to the platform so that any changes to the raw data can be quickly updated on Tableau with a refresh.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Tableau offers expensive training and technical level customer service is almost non-existent.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would recommend that those in the legal industry begin with a free data visualization tool and then, if it is insufficient, move toward pay-to-play Tableau and the legal and security hurdles it entails.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing

Cons

  • Less Effective Service
  • Leverages Incumbent Status
  • Commodity Features

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?

The distinguishing factor that sets Tableau apart from any other tool I've come across is its unparalleled data visualization capabilities. Tableau excels at transforming unstructured statistics into meaningful data and stands out for its ability to swiftly provide a visual and straightforward approach to data preparation. Currently, no other tool matches Tableau's speed and efficiency in this aspect.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Tableau offers unparalleled connectivity, allowing me to effortlessly link it to a wide range of data sources. From Excel files and PDFs to JSON, SQL servers, and more, Tableau supports an extensive variety of formats. In my opinion, this exceptional adaptability is Tableau's greatest strength and what I appreciate most about it.

What do you dislike most about this product?

One significant drawback of Tableau software is the need for prior experience with less advanced data visualization tools. I've observed that professionals who are new to Tableau and lack sufficient familiarity with other visualization tools often face challenges.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Tableu's capabilities enable me to connect with diverse data sources, merge information from multiple platforms, and ultimately transform large datasets into insightful visualizations.

Pros

  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Enables Productivity
