Staying organized with shared libraries.

What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?

We use to deal with folders on local servers, scattered information, but sharepoint fixed that by having a central place that you can actually use. Much faster and more stable than using a basic vpn or older file shares. The search feature is actually why we prefer it, as even the search function will look inside of documents to find a keyword (making it much easier to track down old contracts or project notes, compared with what you’ve uploaded years ago!).

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love the site template! I created a department landing page for news updates and quick links in an hour. It makes communicating inside much more modern. I also love the app, its great to be able to preview a power-point on my phone into a meeting. The follow feed is nice too, because then my most-visited sites are all at the top of my dashboard when i login in the morning.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The windows sync client occasionally loses its marbles, shows some red crosses and has to be restarted. It’s a little bit annoying when you’re in a hurry.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you have a growing team and want a serious way to wrangle documentation internal news, this is by far best for keeping everyone synchronized and proactively informed.

Pros

  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Trustworthy
  • Client Friendly Policies

Hub Sites Connect Our Departments

Likeliness to Recommend

8 /10

What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?

our 50-people company has a hr, finance and an it team site. all of them linked to a “corporate hub site.”

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Good thing because the hub site gives a common nav bar across all the associated sites. It also allows us to search all of the connected sites at once. it consolidates all of our individual department sites into a single intranet.

What do you dislike most about this product?

a site's relationship to a hub is not terribly clear. our users are a little bit confused and don't now, where they are in the intranet. the visual signs could be clearer.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

for large organizations with scores of distinct sites, hub sites are the ideal way to manage them and grow a common user experience.

Pros

  • Performance Enhancing
  • Effective Service
  • Client Friendly Policies
  • Transparent

What differentiates Microsoft SharePoint from other similar products?

sharepoint has an edge over the others because of its full integration with the power platform.. it is perfect because you can create custom applications and workflows on your data libraries. (now) most other storage solutions involve third(3rd)-party integrations sharepoint does it all. it is a highly versatile form of software that can be used to invent customer solutions to specific business problem.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

i like that i can add custom columns to my files, e.g. “project status” and “due date”. this makes it far easier to organize and access a large library of documents. the coauthoring functions correctly on the web browser version of word and excel. i also like the "check-in" and "check-out" feature when i need to insure no one else touches a file while i'm working on a big update. it’s a very robust and reliable system.

What do you dislike most about this product?

the email search results can be overwhelming at times. it searches everything from chat logs to e-mails and becomes very difficult to find the actual file you were lookign for.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

if you have any big plans other than just storing and archiving files and would like to develop that smart digital office, it'll be the bito sharepoint.
