What I feel stands out for me with GoAnywhere MFT is that it pulls a lot of secure file transfer stuff into one place, so I don’t have to keep switching between tools or writing a bunch of scripts. I can just build a workflow that pulls a file from one system, encrypts it, and then sends it to a partner, all inside one project. Also, its visual workflow designer helps me follow along with what’s happening step by step, even when I’m not looking at the technical side of things.

What do you dislike most about this product?

There are reports, yes, but sometimes I wish it was easier to pull very specific details without tweaking filters too much. I’ve found myself spending more time adjusting report settings than I’d like, especially when I just want quick insight into a transfer history or failure logs. Not a deal breaker, just slightly time consuming sometimes.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Plan your workflows before configuring anything, and if possible have someone technical help during initial setup. Also, keep the system updated for security. Overall, go in with a bit of preparation.

What differentiates GoAnywhere MFT from other similar products?

The biggest differentiator is its integration with the broader Fortra portfolio. GoAnywhere can be paired with many powerful platforms. It can automatically scan incoming files for malware before they ever hit our internal network.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I must say it is one of the few tools that feels equally at home managing a single bank’s payroll and a global retail chain’s entire supply chain data. From a compliance standpoint, the way it ties every action back to a specific job id is brilliant. I can click on a failed job and see the exact line of the workflow where it stumbled, along with the specific error message from the remote server.

What do you dislike most about this product?

As GoAnywhere is used to move the most sensitive data, it is for sure a primary target for high-level hacker groups, thus creating patching fatigue.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

‎The logs are heavy on Java. Ensure someone on your team is comfortable reading technical logs. The Gateway acts as a reverse proxy, keeping your sensitive data and user credentials behind your internal firewall.
