What differentiates Amazon WorkSpaces from other similar products?

It uses the Workspace Streaming Protocol and PCoIP, which are highly optimized for high latency or low bandwidth connections, often outperforming the standard RDP used by many competitors.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The AutoStop feature is a lifesaver for the budget. It saves the state of the desktop and stops the instance when not in use, so I only pay the cheap hourly rate instead of a full monthly sub.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Launching a new Workspace takes approx 15-20 minutes, which is too much.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Go for it if you are already deep in the AWS ecosystem, need to support Linux based developers, or want to avoid the administrative nightmare of managing a full VDI farm.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite feature of Amazon WorkSpaces is its simplicity and flexibility. you can set up fully managed Windows or Linux desktops in minutes, scale them up or down as your team expands, and pay only for what you need. It eliminates the hassle of maintaining hardware and patching systems while providing secure, anywhere access.

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I dislike most about Amazon WorkSpaces is that it can feel slow or unstable when you're on a shaky or low-bandwidth connection—users frequently mention lag, delayed loading times, or even abrupt disconnections that impede workflow.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) for enhanced protection, enable encryption at rest and in transit, and keep golden images up to current to ensure that new WorkSpaces deploy consistently. To avoid problems, schedule frequent patching and backups and set up warnings for expense spikes or unexpected activities.
