I liked that Vervoe went beyond assessing candidates mainly on resumes and interview dialog. This is important for product roles because a framework or a strong CV doesn’t always translate into how someone would tackle a real business problem. “Another way we were assessed was practical assessments.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Nice to have candidate results in a more structured format. Discussions with hiring teams are easier when comparing multiple candidates, if similar assessment information is available. It gave us something concrete to review alongside interviews and previous experience. The assessment process also reduced some of the early screening effort. Candidates could demonstrate their abilities before the team invested time in multiple interview rounds which helped make the process more focused.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I wouldn't treat assessment results as a complete picture of a candidate. Product work is stakeholder management. It is judgment, collaboration and ambiguity. It is hard to assess in a standardized test. Creating well-designed assessments takes some thought, too; poorly selected questions can produce misleading results.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Vervoe is useful if you want to see what a candidate can actually do, not just their background.” For product hiring I see it as an additional decision making input rather than a replacement for interviews. It can add structure to early-stage screening with experience, conversations and good judgment so the team can spend more time with candidates that have the skills that the role actually needs.

The AI tools even after being trained are only 71 to 78 % accurate it needs improvement.
