Powerful and Reliable CMDB for IT Operations

Likeliness to Recommend

8 /10

What differentiates ServiceNow CMDB from other similar products?

I have found ServiceNow CMDB to be powerful, especially when combined with the SAM (Software Asset Management) module. It automatically links software assets to the underlying infrastructure, giving clear visibility into usage and compliance. The discovery keeps our data up to date without much manual effort. Compared to other tools that I have used, it’s more integrated and easier to manage once set up properly.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One of my favorite aspect of ServiceNow CMDB is how seamlessly it integrates with other modules like SAM, ITSM, and Discovery. It gives a real-time, accurate view of our IT environment without constant manual updates. I especially like the CI relationship mapping, it makes impact analysis much easier.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The thing I dislike the most about ServiceNow CMDB is the initial complexity and steep learning curve. It requires setting up Discovery patterns and maintaining data quality, which if not managed well, the CMDB can become cluttered or inaccurate. It also requires ongoing governance to stay effective.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I'd recommend starting with a clear scope and focus on critical CIs first. Use the Discovery early to automate data collection.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Effective Service
