What differentiates SAP SuccessFactors HCM from other similar products?

SAP SuccessFactors HCM stands out because of its talent management strength, modular flexibility, global compliance, and native SAP integration—which makes it a natural choice for multinational companies already in the SAP ecosystem. Employee Central is strong in supporting multi-country requirements (localization packs, compliance features, time-off rules, multiple languages). If you are in the SAP Ecosystem, Employee Central ties in natively with SAP Payroll, SAP S/4HANA, and other SAP solutions. For global companies running SAP Finance & Logistics, the integration advantage is huge.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect is definitely how it connects all the talent processes together in one place. For example: *When I update goals in Performance & Goals, those same goals show up during check-ins, can be linked to Learning activities, and even tied to Compensation decisions. *Managers get a single, connected view of an employee—performance history, potential, learning progress, compensation changes, succession readiness—without jumping between different systems. *As an employee, it feels good to see that my goals, training, and performance feedback are not siloed. It creates a real sense of progression and visibility.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some modules (like Recruiting or Compensation) can feel a bit clunky, with too many clicks and not always intuitive for new users. The navigation isn’t always consistent — for example, similar actions might appear in different places depending on the module, which confuses employees and managers. Reporting is limited: The standard reports are okay, but if you want advanced analytics, you often need Workforce Analytics (WFA) or integration with SAP Analytics Cloud, which not every company has. Mobile app: While decent, it doesn’t always match the desktop experience, and some functions are missing or simplified too much.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

First of all, my experience and personal opinion: If you are not currently within the SAP Ecosystem, it does not make sense to choose SAP SuccessFactors. * Define your HR Priorities: * SuccessFactors is strongest in talent management (performance, learning, succession, goals). * If your main priority is payroll or workforce scheduling, you may need integrations with SAP Payroll, Kronos, or others. * Define whether you want a full HR suite or just certain modules first. * Think about reporting early. Out-of-the-box reports are okay but limited. * Ensure your mobility expectations are met
