A leader in NGFW
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Palo Alto Network Security NGFW from other similar products?
It's unique AppID feature.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Everything of this firewall is my favorite but mostly I like it's application control and it's unique AppID feature.
What do you dislike most about this product?
While pushing the policies, If one admin is doing it then another one can't perform the policy push. This lock feature in this firewall looks very odd when two or more admins working at a time. Palo Alto should look into this feature and come up with another approach like other vendors.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
It's definitely worth purchasing this firewall anyone who is looking for most robust NGFW in the market. It's a leader in Gartner's quadrant.

Powerful and Reliable Security Engine
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Palo Alto Network Security NGFW from other similar products?
It is the deep integration of App-ID and User-ID. Unlike legacy firewalls that just look at ports, this allows me to build policies based on the actual application and user, which is a massive upgrade for our security posture.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The consistency of the platform. I spend most of my time working on large-scale infrastructure, including managing 33 HA pairs through Panorama, and the ability to push uniform policies across different environments is highly reliable.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The administrative overhead. Managing frequent PAN-OS upgrades and troubleshooting RADIUS MFA issues can be very manual; I’d love to see more automated playbooks for these common tasks to speed up our maintenance cycles.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Focus on learning how to manage your environment via Panorama rather than individual boxes. If you are dealing with multiple sites, understanding the template stack is the only way to keep your configurations clean and scalable.
Pros
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
- Transparent
- Security Protects
