What differentiates Moodle from other similar products?
What really sets Moodle apart from many other learning systems is that it’s open‑source and free to use mainly. This means schools and organisations don’t have to pay any licensing fees, and they can change the platform however they want to suit their own needs. There’s a large global community of developers and educators who contribute plugins, improvements, and support, so Moodle keeps evolving and staying useful for many different ways of teaching and learning.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
What I like best about Moodle is that it gives you lots of control and flexibility without charging for it. You can set up courses the way you want, add lots of useful tools like forums, quizzes, and calendars, and change the platform to fit your needs. It’s free to use, and there’s a big community of other users who share help and resources, which makes it easier to solve problems and find new features.
What do you dislike most about this product?
What I dislike most about Moodle is how hard it can be to use and navigate, especially for beginners. The interface often feels outdated and cluttered, and simple tasks like setting up assignments or finding certain settings can take a lot of clicking around. Some features, like video conferencing or advanced reporting, are limited or missing and the mobile experience isn’t always great either.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Moodle can be an excellent choice if you want a flexible, cost‑effective LMS and are willing to invest time in setup, training, and support. It’s particularly suitable for institutions with an IT team or technical resources but may feel challenging for beginners. If you are beginners you may feel difficulty.
