Folder Management, but Make It Corporate.

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?
Microsoft SharePoint is like that coworker you didn’t fully appreciate until they went on vacation and everything fell apart. In the design department, we’re always swapping assets, working across departments, and dealing with too many versions of the same file. SharePoint gives us a place to keep all of that chaos contained — think of it as a giant, structured drawer where every project lives and (mostly) stays organized.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The thing that’s helped us the most is version control. I can upload a new iteration of a visual asset, and SharePoint logs it without creating five separate files labeled “Final_FINAL2_ACTUALLY_FINAL”. Our product marketing folks love that. Plus, permissions control is super tight; we can share a folder with the product team while keeping WIP assets locked from sales until they’re polished and client-safe.
What do you dislike most about this product?
SharePoint isn’t always a joy to navigate. The search function feels like it’s still living in 2009, sometimes it acts like it’s never heard of the file you just uploaded.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
It does the job. And more importantly, it does it securely, at scale, and with just enough flexibility for our creative processes. We’ve even set up an approvals folder where leadership can view and sign off on assets without touching the originals; no email ping-pong needed. That alone has saved us hours every month.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
- Enables Productivity

Sharepoint excels as a front end doc management

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?
Microsoft Sharepoint integrates incredibly with other Office 365 apps. This means that all apps, which can be used for document sharing, such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneDrive or others are extremely well connected with the Microsoft Sharepoint ecosystem. Collaboration tools are incredibly well done, and allows large companies to access and work on files easily.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
We use Sharepoint mainly as an internal front end to our document libraries. We store most of our files digitally, through Microsoft Onedrive, and use Microsoft Sharepoint on top of that to create a visually appealing, easy to use and navigate dashboard. From there, users can easily access thousands of files, in a very friendly and intuitive way.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Beyond what's normally offered by Microsoft, designing a truly custom template is very hard, and Microsoft doesn't provide any supporting interface to make design easier. Microsoft Sharepoint normally offers only basic templates, which can be customized, but not to a large extent. With quality designers, however, you can create dashboards that are almost indistinguishable from regular websites.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you are using any other Microsoft 365 applications within your work processes, especially OneDrive as your primary cloud storage, it only makes sesnse to integrate Microsoft Sharepoint on top of that.

- Performance Enhancing
