What differentiates Microsoft Exchange Online Archiving from other similar products?
Microsoft Exchange Online Archiving stands out mainly because of how tightly it is integrated with Microsoft 365. It works seamlessly with Exchange, retention policies, and eDiscovery tools without needing separate infrastructure or complex setup. This makes it easier to manage compared to standalone archiving solutions, especially for organizations already using Microsoft services.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect is the native integration with Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online. Once enabled, archiving and retention policies work consistently in the background with minimal administrative effort, while still meeting compliance and legal requirements.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The admin experience can feel confusing at times, especially when navigating between different Microsoft portals for archiving, retention, and eDiscovery. Reporting and visibility into storage usage and policy impact could also be clearer.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
This product works best for organizations that are already invested in Microsoft 365. Make sure you clearly understand retention policies and compliance requirements before enabling it, and plan time to learn the admin tools. If you need heavy customization or advanced reporting, review those limitations in advance.
