What differentiates GoAnywhere MFT from other similar products?

The biggest difference for us was the native cloud connectors. With other tools or open-source setups, we always had to write custom API wrappers just to get secure files into our AWS S3 buckets. GoAnywhere has those built right in out of the box. You just drag and drop the S3 module into your workflow and it actually works, which completely removes that engineering overhead.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I am a huge fan of the advanced workflows feature. Before this, my team spent way too much time debugging broken cron jobs and Python scripts just to move data securely. Being able to visually map out a multi-step file transfer, complete with automatic retries and PGP encryption, means I rarely have to touch that legacy code anymore.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The UI is honestly a bit dated and clunky. Because the platform can do so much, the navigation feels overwhelming when you first log in. Also, when a really complex automated job fails, digging through the text logs to find the exact error takes longer than I'd like. A modernized dashboard and better visual debugging would be a massive improvement.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Don't just start building workflows blindly. Take the time upfront to map out your most common data pipelines and build a few solid templates first. The learning curve is a little steep, so having standard, pre-configured templates for your team to use (like basic SFTP to S3 routing) will save you a lot of headaches when you start scaling it out.

The UI is clean and easy to navigate, I really like the way it handles encryption of files and uses secure protocols while transfer.

The initial setup and configuration of GoAnywhere MFT can be a bit complex and may require technical expertise. I think improvements could be made in this area.

It reduces the need to build and maintain custom file transfer logic in applications. Instead of writing scripts for moving, encrypting, or transforming files, I can rely on GoAnywhere workflows and APIs to handle those steps. It supports common formats like JSON, XML, CSV, and EDI, which makes it easier to integrate with different systems.
