What differentiates Fivetran from other similar products?

I mostly use Fivetran so that I’m not wasting development cycles for building individual pipelines for each of the more common data sources. After the correct connector is in place and configured, most routine sync operations are done behind-the-scenes without much supervision.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I appreciate that it's not that difficult to ensure data is flowing correctly. It prevents the team from having to deal with a bunch of little integration points so we can spent less time on connection management and more time on our data.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It isn’t as flexible as writing your own fully custom pipeline. When a certain requirement becomes really specific I can catch myself feeling a need for more control on my side regarding the transformation and sync process.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I'd use Fivetran if I needed robust, reproducible data replication as opposed to very custom data transformation processes. Begin with a few key sources, examine the sync's behavior against what you expect from it, then monitor usage as your infrastructure grows.

I love the reliability and near real-time sync, which keeps our data always up to date

The main downside is that pricing increases quickly as data volumes scale

It’s best for teams that want a fully managed, low-maintenance solution — but be mindful of pricing as your data volume grows.
