What differentiates Dynamics 365 Business Central from other similar products?

The key distinguishing characteristic is Business Central's flexibility in terms of its options for deployment. As a cloud-first platform, it can, in fact, have an on-premises and a hybrid model, offering companies a range of options best for them and compliance needs. With its flexibility and its scalability for small companies, through to larger, mid-enterprise companies, it is a flexible solution that can grow with a growing company over a span of years.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Business Central allows one to assign numerous dimensions to a single transaction, providing a convenient mechanism for financial information analysis in terms of numerous dimensions of a business. With such a feature, one can have in-depth analysis and reporting with no complex chart of accounts, and easier information can be derived about many dimensions of a business's performance. Dimension combination can even allow one to have a predefined mechanism for combining dimensions, and financial management can become easier for numerous departments or even for numerous projects.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The area of concern is performance, and in terms of processing high volumes of information, in fact, particularly for complex queries and high-value transactions, performance and slow performance and even timeouts have been experienced by users. For companies with high volumes of transactions and companies with real-time analysis requirements, it can become a big issue. As much improvement, for instance, in performance in general, performance can become an issue for productivity and for even for user satisfaction, particularly for companies with high-growing volumes of information requirements.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

With its feature breadth, new users can become intimidated, and a proper training program is critical to successful adoption. Having in-house champions, who can become expert masters in individual modules and mentor coworkers, can have a significant impact. Besides, budget for ongoing training in a position to keep pace with new additions and enhancements, since new releases run regularly, providing additional value to your operations. By focusing on user adoption and ongoing improvement, you can maximize Business Central value and drive long-term success with the platform.

Navision/Business Central-My Favourite ERP

What differentiates Dynamics 365 Business Central from other similar products?

One of the major factors we implemented Business Central aka Navison in 2021 was less cost compared to other company ERP products. The ease of implementing the integration within Microsoft ecosystem specifically fulfilment functionality via outlook after order processing. There was a time when it was rated as best ERP for SMB due to it’s centralised data capability, however the evolution is somewhat limited

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Ease of implementation even outside of Microsoft ecosystem. Easy integration capabilities to CRM platform like Salesforce through Jitterbit. Better security features, there are basically only 4 guys who handles administrative activities and they easily control all the activities and objects implementation for 50 people. Business central has to be my favourite ERP for Order to Cash Cycle process.

What do you dislike most about this product?

With passing years the negatives of using this ERP platform have increased within our organisation, specifically from Finance side. There are complaints about Data integrity which leads to wrong statement creation and finance people can’t read what exactly is the position of company. That is why there is a higher chance that we may move back to Netsuite ERP once again.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Best buy for any SMB organisations, the core functionality for implementing Order to Cash cycle totally stands out.

What differentiates Dynamics 365 Business Central from other similar products?

Dynamics 365 Business Central is distinguished through native integration in the environment of Microsoft. With native integration with Office 365 tools, including deep integration with Office 365 tools, including Office 365 programs and specifically deep integration with Office 365 for contact and customer engagements and Excel for analysis, a harmonized environment with increased productivity is developed. Integration with Power BI for complex analysis and with Power Automate for workflows maximizes a full-fledged business platform with tools one feels most at ease within a native environment.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central is role-based user experience. Role Centers in the system provide personalised dashboards and lists of actions based on a user's job role. Role Centers contribute a lot towards enhancing productivity for a user, with information and actions most relevant to them displayed at one go, minimizing the time consumed in searching through the system. With a feature of customizability for Role Centers, any user can have access to tools and information most utilized for them at any given point in time.

What do you dislike most about this product?

One aspect I have an issue within Dynamics 365 Business Central is its reporting function. Despite having a basic reporting function, custom reporting can sometimes require technical expertise or a third-party tool. The report designer in the system can be cumbersome to use, and complex reports can require AL programming language skills. That can make it not necessarily simple for non-tech users to produce custom reports in a timely manner and thus can hinder timely data-driven decision processes.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

For businesses contemplating Dynamics 365 Business Central, I encourage them to make use of the free testing period to thoroughly review its viability for your specific requirements. Pay specific attention to its integration with your existing Microsoft tools and processes. Have your key representatives in a variety of departments utilize the system during testing to confirm that it can address a variety of requirements for your business. In addition, use an experienced Microsoft partner who can educate best practice for its installation and customize the system for your specific processes.
