Industry Standard for BIM

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Autodesk Revit from other similar products?

The best feature is that all changes are centralised, that is even if I change a local parameter, I don’t have to change all other parameters manually and the change is reflected automatically. Other thing that sets it apart is that it unifies architectural, structural and MEP engineering into a single platform which allows for multiple teams even from different domains to work on the same project in real time.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Any change that I make across a single entity or project is automatically reflected and updated in the entire project database.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It is hardware heavy and requires significant resources to run smoothly. Lack of backward compatibility is another issue.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

That they first assess their requirements and then proceed with purchase. Multiple versions of Revit are now available, and lack of assessment and analysis may lead to buying an overpowered or underpowered version, impacting organisational goals.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Enables Productivity

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It’s seamless integration in a firms system and coordination in multidisciplinary designs

What do you dislike most about this product?

It is a resource heavy product

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

One should use this product as the central BIM hub but integrate it with specialized analysis tools for performance verification and structural detailing

A review of Revit from a daily user

What differentiates Autodesk Revit from other similar products?

I think if it is anything which differentiates Revit from other BIM products is the the support and inetgration of Revit with other Autodesk products like Navisworks, Civil3d and AutoCAD which helps in complete BIM processing. I would suggest anyone working on BIM should try working definitely in Revit and other Autodesk BIM products.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Revit allows end users to add their own additional properties as needed, in addition to assisting in the creation of precise digital representations of buildings. Revit's primary advantage is that it considers various aspects and generates attributes based on real building data. Revit's BIM platform allows all teams to work together on the same model with shared data and real-time updates. Additionally, because Revit offers the same functionality when drafting plans, an architect can save time by not having to draw sections and elevations separately.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Revit is not backward compatible in terms of file saving. Also, there are few issues with IFC exports where spaces are visible in Revit file but somehow not visible in IFC

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is overall a very good product for anyone working in BIM and construction. It reduces the workload of architects and engineers, as they get multiple features like time related information, material quantity as well as energy requrements using a single software. It is very efficient in producing high quality drawings with minute level details. However the initial learning curve might be little bit steep for people who are not familiar to multiple discplines of construction.

Pros

  • Continually Improving Product
  • Enables Productivity
  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
