Tight Control Over Application Access

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates ThreatLocker from other similar products?

According to my point of view, ThreatLocker stands out for its proactive zero-trust approach, focusing on application allowlisting rather than just detecting threats after they occur. It only allows approved applications and processes to run, which greatly reduces the risk of ransomware and unauthorized software. This gives strong control, better visibility, and a more preventive security posture than traditional endpoint tools.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of ThreatLocker is the control it giver over what can actually run in the environment. Instead of relying mainly on detecting threats after they appear, it lets me define exactly with applications, scripts, and processes are allowed. That shift to a prevention-first model makes a big difference in reducing risk, especially with ransomware and unknown software. According to my perspective, it also brings peace of mind because endpoints behave in a more predictable and secure way.

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I dislike most about ThreatLocker is that it can take time and effort to get the allowlisting model properly turned in a real-world environment. In the beginning, there is usually a learning curve while we figure out which applications processes need to be approved without disrupting users. If not managed carefully, it can lead to friction with end users and extra workload for the IT teams. While the control it offers is strong, it does require ongoing attention to maintain balance between security and usability.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If we are considering ThreatLocker, my recommendation would be to be prepared for an initial setup and tuning phase. The platform is very effective at preventing unauthorized applications and strengthening endpoint security, but it works best when we invest time upfront to carefully define what should be allowed in our environment. I would suggest rolling it out in phases, starting with a pilot group, so we can refine policies without disrupting users. For IT teams looking to move toward a stronger zero-trust model, it’s a powerful solution worth serious consideration.
