What differentiates ownCloud from other similar products?
Several features are available to me, including the ability to listen to online music, use an online content tool, and read online archives (PDF, OpenDocument). There is no doubt that OwnCloud is a great application. I used it for many time on my server, using the storage to host my cloud server.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Most of the features work flawlessly, such as management of data, which can be accessed online and by clients with great ease. It is charming to combine your mail, calendar, and task organizer into one Platform. By using your cloud technology, you can take control of your files, as cloud service providers may not always be able to meet your needs.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It is not uncommon for certain files to not sync automatically in real-time when they are supposed to sync. Occasionally, it may be necessary to force the synchronization process. There is no support for file locking at all. Therefore, it is impossible to recognize changes made by different users to the same file simultaneously.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Besides the fact that it was extremely easy to install, my server did not have any strange configuration issues, and the user interface was straightforward to use. As a user, it would be nice to have the option of effortlessly swapping data in the cloud and setting up who has access to what users' folders in the cloud.
