Identity and Access Management (IAM) Software Users Review Vendors for Satisfaction, Revealing Their Top Three Through SoftwareReviews

Symantec VIP, Microsoft Identity Manager, and HID Global Identity Platform are named the 2019 Identity and Access Management (IAM) Data Quadrant gold medalists

TORONTO, Dec. 12, 2019 - SoftwareReviews, a division of world-class IT research and advisory firm Info-Tech Research Group, has published its 2019 Identity and Access Management Data Quadrant Awards, naming three gold medalists based on excellent user reviews. The following vendors are leaders according to software users’ answers to some very interesting questions focused on user satisfaction, which have been crafted by seasoned IT industry analysts and backed by 22 years of IT research:

·         Symantec VIP
·         Microsoft Identity Manager
·         HID Global Identity Platform

What makes the SoftwareReviews Data Quadrant different is the inclusion of aggregated emotional response ratings in the areas of service, negotiation, product impact, conflict resolution, and strategy and innovation. These ratings create a powerful indicator of overall user feeling toward the vendor and its product from the software users’ point of view. SoftwareReviews calls this insight the Net Emotional Footprint.

Symantec VIP ranked highest among software users, earning the number-one spot in the areas of business value created, quality and breadth of features, ease of implementation, ease of customization, reporting, identity governance, product strategy and rate of improvement, password management, and advanced provisioning. Overall, Symantec VIP earned the top-product spot in 13 of 22 survey categories and its software users were happiest with the vendor’s access request management, giving it 89 percent, which allows IT to track and manage user access requests. Microsoft Identity Manager users were exceedingly satisfied, giving the vendor top scores in availability and quality of training with 79 percent, as well as 74 percent for privileged access management. HID Global Identity Platform did well across the board and exceeded customer expectations with its mobility support, which ranked number one at 79 percent.

As explained by Ian Mulholland, senior research analyst, Info-Tech Research Group, “Today, most Identity and Access Management vendors offer the same foundational features, forcing vendors to differentiate themselves with innovative approaches to the same problem: mitigating the threats of credential theft and abuse. A prime example is the new use of machine learning techniques to better automate these tools’ ability to detect and triage potential risks. While these innovative approaches do make some vendors stand out, we have seen the largest differentiator to be the emotional experience customers have with the vendor. To make it in this market, vendors need to be transparent, flexible, and fair with customers.”
