What differentiates CARTO from other similar products?
CARTO provides a easy to use data management solution that is integrated with the product itself. Users can peruse the data observatory catalog to integrate available datasets or load in their own datasets. Having similar capabilities to ArcGIS, CARTO provides a seamless online experience where the user can use SQL to manipulate the data and join information with a quick output in the map view.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I love the ability to publish quick maps using carto's pre-built analysis tools, while also having the option to create more complicated joins and calculations in the back end.
What do you dislike most about this product?
There are limitations to carto that they have worked to improve over the years. One being the database connections at the time we were using it were not seamless and required extra set up. The other being ArcGIS still has a wider set of pre-built spatial analytic tools compared to CARTO.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I would recommend the user to consider how best to enforce the usage of CARTO in the organization. CARTO is relatively new in the game compared to ArcGIS and open source tools like QGIS.
