Avaya has announced that it is ending its “Power by Avaya IP Office” cloud-based solution. The move follows Avaya’s partnership with RingCentral in 2019, through which their joint "Avaya Cloud Office by RingCentral" offering was to become Avaya’s exclusive Unified-Communications-as-a-Service (UCaaS)-marketed solution.
Any existing deals registered before March 31, 2020, will still be made available and supported for the duration of the contract.
There will be no change to Avaya’s IP Office on-premises offering.
Avaya’s move to end “Power by Avaya IP Office” will not come as a surprise, given its intent to do so was made public in 2019 with its RingCentral partnership. Now that this event is coming to pass, Avaya has been able to both rationalize and enhance its cloud-based offering to the market. While Avaya’s on-premises solutions currently make up most of their sales, a RingCentral-backed UCaaS offering will help Avaya solidify itself in this market territory.
Moreover, if Avaya wants to “be a cloud-first company,” as Avaya CEO Jim Chirico stated in 2019, throwing all its resources behind a primary UCaaS offering will ensure that Avaya Cloud Office will become a firm competitor against other dominant UCaaS solutions.
