SAP Facilitates Better Customer Experiences by Adding B2B Functionality to CIAM Solutions

SAP SE announced on April 30, 2019, that business-to-business (B2B) functionality has come to its Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions.

SAP SE, an enterprise software vendor based out of Germany, is among several identity and access management vendors evaluated in Info-Tech’s SoftwareReviews product.

SAP CIAM’s new B2B functionality will allow customers to build more trusted relationships with their business customers or partners. These relationships will allow organizations to share sensitive information without exposing the data to unnecessary and unacceptable risk. Additionally, it will allow organizations to better manage identity lifecycles and provide more effective access management.

According to MarTech Advisor, one of the first customers of the new SAP CIAM B2B functionality is FranklinCovey, a time management training and assessment service provider. FranklinCovey plans to use the new service to automate and streamline the onboarding process for its business customers.

Our Take

SAP SE’s new B2B functionality is going to have a huge impact on organizations that sell products to, or partner with, other organizations. Now, customers of SAP CIAM solutions will be able to share their data with customers, without harmful identity and access management issues. This improved customer journey could lead to significant revenue growth, as it opens up many doors for customers or partners trying to better serve their own customers – doors that would normally be closed because of the inherent IAM issues that exist when trying to share data between organizations without a B2B solution in place.
