Security Shield is a complete Internet Security Suite featuring Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Firewall, and Anti-Spam protection.

The installation was fairly quick and once we had it up and running it did not seem to affect the performance of the computer that much. The Anti-virus software is the highly ranked Kaspersky engine, which has one of the industry's fastest response time to new Internet threats. It includes automated hourly updates to all the latest viruses on the web, keeping it in sync with any newly discovered viruses and blocking them from your system. The real-time web scanning feature and auto updating are pretty much standard with all Internet Security software packages since they would be useless unless they were constantly keeping up with new attacks. The great thing about the automation is that while it is running it is updating itself and staying ahead of the game without you needing to do manual updates.

The Anti-spyware feature prevents keyloggers and rootkits from stealing your personal information. It has a clean system that removes hidden spyware, annoying pop up windows and ads, and it also can detect malicious activity or hackers trying to invade with probes or bots. Overall this part of the suite ranks pretty high, we felt it was useful and easy to manage, it did not interfere to much with using other programs or web surfing. It can be turned off too if you don’t want to use it to block web content.

Also included is the personal firewall system. The company boasts a new generation Intrusion Detection/Prevention System (IDS/IPS) with controls that protect confidential data including passwords, identity, and any valuable information you may use on your computer. The parental control lets you set a limit to how long the computer can stay online to restrict your children or any users from being online for too long, and you can also restrict access to any website and track if the site was attempted to be accessed.

If you are an above average user with good knowledge of computers then Security Shield may appeal to you. We thought it was well rounded and relatively inexpensive, however some users may have trouble navigating and figuring it out. They do offer free customer support and a Live Chat, so help is just a mouse click away at any time.
