Read more>>              Trend Micro Internet Security set out to fix the bugs
that ruined last year’s release. This new three license version for 2009 has a
much improved malware detection system, and the interface is more streamlined
and consistent including a new tab called “Home Network Map” that allows you
to see the computers and other machines connected to your network, manage the
security of other computers remotely, and block wireless home network intruders
from accessing yours.
Installation was noticeably faster this time around, even on a system that had a
good amount of spyware and adware installed on it. Once we had it running we
still ran into a few issues with the interface and the detection of some of the
malware we had on the system. While testing, it failed to recognize some of the
spyware on the system. Also we experienced some bug where it would return a
blank screen and then seemed to be frozen. Once I rebooted that fixed the error
but it did happen again on another scan.
The spam filter and privacy controls are great, the firewall is excellent. It
also ran very smooth, taking up very little resources. The parental control
feature is top notch and works just the way you would expect it to. Bottom line
is this is a very good security suite, but just don’t try to use it on a
system with lots of spyware and viruses already on it or you may run into some
issues.
